Mother Carr’s Farm

Mother Carr’s Farm is a pesticide-free community-supported agriculture operation at Vernon Park Village in Lynwood, Illinois, developed by Vernon Park 73-acre property. It began in 2012 as “Mother Carr’s Garden” on one acre, named in memory of longtime member Mother Julia Carr, and has since expanded its impact significantly.​

Farm overview

The farm grows pesticide-free produce and has achieved a total harvest exceeding 35,000 pounds as its CSA model scaled up to serve the community. The broader Vernon Park Village site spans 73 acres, providing the land base for the garden’s growth into a larger farm operation.​

CSA program

The farm’s CSA operates on 10 acres of Vernon Park Village, allowing members to directly support the farm through advance-share purchases that sustain the growing season. In return, members receive regular boxes of seasonal produce, reflecting the CSA model’s emphasis on shared commitment between growers and the community.
