Off-the-Strip Culture Guide: How to Spend a Black Arts Weekend in Las Vegas

iqra February 17, 2026

If you’re visiting Las Vegas—or you live here and want a different kind of weekend—try designing a Black arts and culture itinerary built around Back in the Day and the Black Pages International directory.

Start the Weekend with Back in the Day

Start your weekend at Winchester Dondero Cultural Center for Back in the Day, presented by Lighthouse LV & S.A.V.E. in association with Black Pages International and Bronz’D Entertainment. This stage play drops you into 1960s Chicago, where one teen pregnancy forces a family to wrestle with identity, image, and integrity in a rapidly changing America. With its soulful soundtrack and honest storytelling, the play feels like a live mixtape of drama, church, and community.

Create a Full Black Arts Weekend Itinerary

Once you’ve chosen your showtime—Friday evening, Saturday matinee or Gala night, or the following Thursday/Friday—build the rest of your Black arts weekend:

  • Use Black Pages International to find local Black-owned galleries, barbershops, beauty salons, and creative studios you can visit before or after the show.
  • Look up Black-owned restaurants and lounges where live music or open mics extend the creative vibe into the night.
  • Search for other Black-led events on BPI’s site and social channels so you can turn one show into a full weekend plan.

Why This Weekend Hits Different

What makes this special is the intentionality. Instead of letting Vegas decide your experience, you’re curating it: choosing Black stories on stage, Black spaces for your dollars, and Black businesses for your support.
