Your business may already be known on your block, through referrals, or across social media. A directory listing gives customers another way to discover it when they are actively searching for a product, service, restaurant, professional, or community resource.
Black Pages International invites eligible Chicago Black-owned businesses to submit their information for directory consideration.
Why Get Listed
A clear listing can help potential customers understand:
- Your official business name
- What products or services you provide
- Your category or industry
- Where you are located or which areas you serve
- How to call, email, visit, or learn more
- Which website or social account belongs to the business
BPI serves as a discovery platform connecting businesses with consumers and community members who want to support Black-owned commerce.
What to Prepare Before You Submit
Gather the following information:
- Owner or authorized contact name
- Current email address and phone number
- Official business name
- Best business category or industry
- Short, clear business description
- Website and active social media links
- City, state, and location information
- Years in business
- Confirmation that the company is Black-owned
- Any additional information that helps BPI understand the business
Use information that matches your official website, Google Business Profile, signage, invoices, and social accounts. Consistency helps customers recognize the same business across platforms.
Write a Strong Business Description
A useful description answers three questions:
- What does the business provide?
- Who does it serve?
- What should the customer do next?
For example:
South Side Chicago catering company providing corporate lunches, private-event menus, and family-style meals. Contact us through our website to request availability and a custom quote.
Avoid vague claims such as "the best in the city" unless you can support them. Do not include outdated pricing, expired promotions, or services you no longer offer.
Submit Through the Official Form
Use the Black Pages International Get Listed form. Complete every required field and review the submission before sending it.
The form is the correct current destination for new business information. Do not use unconfirmed campaign or landing-page URLs unless BPI creates and publishes them.
After You Submit
Keep a copy of the information you provided. Review your official website and social profiles to make sure the same phone number, address, hours, and business name appear consistently.
If BPI requests clarification, respond from an official business email or another channel that demonstrates you are authorized to represent the company.
Submission does not guarantee a specific placement, badge, ranking, customer volume, or publication date. Avoid marketing language that promises automatic verification, owner badges, premium analytics, or immediate listing control unless those capabilities are confirmed live.
Review the Customer View Before Promotion
Open the listing as a visitor would. Check the headline, description, phone number, category, location, links, and images. Make sure a first-time customer can quickly understand what the business offers and what to do next. Test every link on a mobile phone. If something is missing or incorrect, contact BPI before directing paid advertising or a large email campaign to the page.
Promote the Listing Once It Is Live
After the listing is published:
- Add the link to your website
- Share it through email and social media
- Include it in community or vendor profiles
- Ask partners to use the official listing when referring customers
- Review the details periodically and contact BPI when corrections are needed
A listing performs best when it connects to a larger visibility system that includes Google Business Profile, a mobile-friendly website, accurate social pages, and responsive customer service.
Keep the Listing Accurate Over Time
Treat the listing as an active business asset rather than a one-time submission. Review it whenever your phone number, address, hours, services, website, booking link, or ownership information changes. Schedule a quarterly check even when nothing major has changed. Accurate details reduce customer frustration, support stronger referrals, and help BPI remain a dependable discovery resource for the community.
