1-800-TruckWreck, a legal firm powered by Witherite Law Group, organized a food giveaway event to combat food insecurity in the Chicago community during the Easter weekend. The event took place on Friday, March 29th, from 3-5 p.m. at House of Hope located in the Pullman neighborhood.

During the giveaway, 1,000 hams and 1,000 food boxes filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, shelf-stable items, and other essentials were distributed to an estimated 1,000 families on a first-come, first-served basis. No family was turned away. The event was free and open to the public.

Amy Witherite, the owner of Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck, personally handed out the hams and food boxes, accompanied by radio legend Joe Soto of iHeart Media Chicago. Witherite highlighted that nearly 30% of households in the Chicago area experience food insecurity, with a disproportionate impact on Black and Latinx communities, particularly children.

The initiative aimed to provide families with the ingredients necessary for a hearty and memorable Easter meal while alleviating the financial burden associated with purchasing fresh and healthy groceries during the holiday season.
